Overview

Hirli was an AI-powered job application automation platform designed to revolutionize the job search process. The platform automated the tedious task of applying to multiple jobs by intelligently filling out applications, customizing resumes, and tracking application status across hundreds of job boards.

The platform focused on saving time for job seekers, increasing application volume, and improving application quality through AI-powered resume optimization and cover letter generation. Job seekers could apply to dozens of positions daily with minimal manual effort.

High Level Goals

Initial Challenges

Job seekers were spending hours daily filling out repetitive application forms across different job boards. Each application required manual data entry, resume uploads, and customized cover letters, making it impossible to apply to a sufficient number of positions to maximize opportunities.

Research & Discovery

After analyzing job seeker workflows, I identified that the average job application took 1-5 minutes to complete. Job seekers needed to apply to 50-100+ positions to get meaningful responses, which was practically impossible with manual applications. The market needed an intelligent automation solution.

Solution Architecture

Designed a multi-layered automation platform using Redis for browser automation, AI for resume optimization, and a distributed worker system for parallel processing. Built with Svelte for the frontend and Cloudflare Workers for edge computing to ensure fast, reliable automation.

The Outcome

After 12 months of development and operation, Hirli was shut down due to a combination of factors. The primary challenges included high operational costs from running browser automation at scale, increasing anti-bot measures from job boards, and competitive pressure from established players in the market.

While the platform successfully automated job applications and received positive user feedback, the unit economics didn't support sustainable growth. The experience provided valuable lessons in automation infrastructure, market validation, and the importance of sustainable business models in competitive markets.
